Examination
Every pet that enters Groome Pet Vets for treatment or vaccination receives an examination by one of our vets. We believe this gives our clients value for money and peace of mind.
Lab Work
Groome Pet Vets have a large range of laboratory capabilities. Diagnostic blood samples can be collected and run using our sophisticated in-house laboratory equipment. In cases where results may not be needed immediately, or where specialized testing is required, samples will be sent to an outside diagnostic laboratory. Urine and stool samples can be viewed in-hospital for rapid diagnosis.
Radiography
Radiographs (commonly referred to as X-rays) are often used as a diagnostic tool. There is a radiology machine and a processor that are always on and ready to use at any hour of the day or night.
Ultrasound
Groome Pet Vet Doctors have the capability to perform limited ultrasound imaging on an emergency basis. In specific cases this can help to diagnose fluid around the heart, assist in safely obtaining samples of urine, abdominal fluid, or thoracic fluid, or looking for masses. Most importantly we can provide an ultrasound guided PREGNANCY SCAN service.
Ultrasound Pregnancy Diagnosis
All our clinics offer this service to dogs, cats and horses by appointment.
Hospitalization
Should your pet need to stay with us for a couple hours, overnight or over a weekend there are warm comfy cages to safely house your cat or dog of any size. There are two levels of care, hospitalization for medical, surgical or minor illness and intensive care including fluid therapy for critical and emergency needs.
Behavioural counselling
Des offers a variety of advice services through his radio shows, email service, facebook or in our clinics.
Dental cleanings/extractions
Dental hygiene is vital for your pet and we provide all veterinary dental services at Kildare Vet Surgery.
General surgery
Our state of the art facility and staff can accommodate the surgical needs your pet may require, with state of the art monitoring equipment.

Through a limited arrangement some house calls are possible
Nutrition counselling
With the diversity of diets available today a tailor made diet can be utilized to meet the specific needs of your pet whether it be weight management or specific needs associated with managing a disease. Our staff are trained in pet nutrition counseling. Groome Pet Vets supply a range of specialist dog diets PROPAK and SPECIFIC.
Pharmacy
A full in-house pharmacy accommodate most medication your pet will need for a speedy recovery.
Preventative health care
Prevention is a hallmark in keeping your pet healthy. The basics of preventative health care begins with Vaccinations, Boosters, deworming , Flea treatments, Grooming and NEUTERING. A special feature of our preventive care package are blood tests to pre-determine health prior to surgery in older animals.
Reproduction counselling
We have the information necessary to make a well planned breeding program as successful as possible. We will advise on the best time to NEUTER and SPAY.
Vaccinations
We will remind you by text or email when your pet’s BOOSTER is due. We advise annual BOOSTER and HEALTH check We provide full health checks included in the price of every vaccination.

Pet Boarding
Boarding is provided by our clinic as a service to our clients. Reservations are required. During school vacation time and holidays, reservations for boarding should be made well in advance. Our kennels and stables are on a spacious 3 acre site with trained staff on hand seven days a week. Our prices reduce for the lengthier stay. We provide boarding hospitality for dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, avians and any other pet you care to mention.
Pet Grooming
Grooming of cats and dogs are done by our highly skilled vet nurses with a vet on site to help keep a watchful eye on your pet’s health. The length and style of the groom is completely up to you and on arrival your Vet Nurse will discuss your requirements with you. Light sedation is available for nervous or aggressive pets. Your pet’s pamper day includes clip/trim, wash and blow dry, ear clean, nail clip and anal gland squeeze if required. Wash and blow dry only is also available. Our groomers are compassionate and competitive.
